The mission of YANA is to reach out in love to women and girls involved in prostitution and human trafficking, offering alternatives to those seeking change and compassionate support for those exploited by any aspect of the life. Our mission is accomplished through street outreach (daytime and evening/night); drop-in services (food, clothing, personal items, and support offered in a homelike setting); trauma counseling; medical services (through Health Care for the Homeless) and advocacy.

Human trafficking is the commercial exploitation of adults or children through sex or labor. YANA works with children who are victims of sex trafficking (prostitution, pornography and stripping), as well as with adult sex trafficking victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into commercial sex.

YANA is an active member of the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force. Sid Ford, YANA's director, chairs the Victim Services Subcommittee in collaboration with the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office and more than 70 member organizations.

If you suspect that someone may be a victim of human trafficking, please contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline (24 hours, toll-free call) at 1-888-373-7888.
